Free early access and long-term benefits

The guidance we’ve received from our advisory team during the early stages has been invaluable. Now it’s time to see the results of those stages in action.

We’re asking a limited group of doulas to become beta testers. Their feedback on BirthBase’s functionality will allow us to make it even better before its full release. Our goal is to give you what you need as a business owner, not what we think you need.

By participating in our free early access program, you’re taking part in the creation of a game-changing tool. Your insights will help thousands of doulas just like you better support those who rely on them for care and comfort.

In return, we’re pleased to offer a free year of BirthBase once it’s officially released. You’ll also receive a lifetime discount on your subscription after the first year in appreciation of your time and effort.

About Us

Welcome from BirthBase founders Jason Martin and Patrick Falvey

Hi! As developers of custom software for Fortune 500 companies, we decided to create the BirthBase app after wonderful experiences with doulas who helped us welcome beautiful new babies into the world.

Let us explain.

In 2020, we each hired doulas to support our growing families for the first time. We couldn’t have made a better decision! From teaching us pressure points to help ease contractions to setting up a meal train, their love and support was overwhelming and the confidence we gained going into labor was priceless.

But, in getting to know them, we recognized some of the pains doulas go through when it comes to organizing their businesses. The administrative and logistical side of things can be a real challenge, especially if they’re using multiple apps or programs to handle it.

Or, for that matter, if they’re using no technology at all.  As we’d later discover, up to 50% of doulas use paper to manage their businesses!

We both sincerely appreciated the support of our doulas, so it was time for us to support them.

That’s when we started learning more about the industry and the role tech plays within it. Come to find out, there aren’t many options for management software in the birthing space. So, we began working with a team of doulas on a custom solution for their specific business needs.

The result was a revolutionary new app built by our senior developers and our doula advisors! It’s been so fulfilling to be able to give back to a group that gave so much of themselves to us.

We have big plans for our platform, so keep checking back as BirthBase’s capabilities continue to expand for doulas and other groups in the natural birthing space.

We hope you enjoy using BirthBase, and if you have any feedback, don’t hesitate to reach out - we’re a friendly bunch!

BirthBase Doula Advisory Team

BirthBase was created by some of the world’s leading software developers in conjunction with expert advisors who know what it takes to run a successful doula business.

Mikki Bell
Owner at thedoulabell.com

Mikki has been working with new families on the Westside of Los Angeles for the past 8 years after recognizing the importance of doula work during her own labor and experience having a doula. She states, "It's like someone took every passion and every gifting that I've ever been told I have and packaged it up in one job!" During that time, her passion and education have only grown and she will continue serving families through doula work while also studying midwifery.

tracy hartley
Owner of bestdoulas.com

Since becoming a doula in 1996, tracy has attended almost 700 births, including the births of her 3 grandchildren. She loves to mentor new doulas and helps them gain confidence in their doula skills. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of DASC (Doulas Association of Southern California), serving in almost every position on the board from President to Member-at-Large but has focused her time working with new doulas in her capacity as the Director of Membership. She has been trained in birth and postpartum through DONA International, CAPPA, Childbirth International, Birthing From Within, HypnoBirthing, Spinning Babies, and dozens of other programs during her 25 year career. During quarantine, when doulas weren’t being allowed to attend births in person at most hospitals, she pivoted her doula business to provide virtual labor support and virtual childbirth preparation to educate and empower expectant families to gain confidence in their knowledge about their upcoming birth and parenting experience. She is now able to help pregnant people all over the country to prepare for birth, particularly in areas where doulas are scarce or still not being allowed in hospitals.

Christine Ghali
Agency Owner at Mindful Birth Services and Doula Care

As a doula agency owner, Christine has mentored hundreds of couples in her classes and supported over 100 births within the past 12 years. In 2018, she created her doula agency and now supports and mentors her doula team along with their shared clients. Christine began Mindful Birth Services and Doula Care in 2009 and got her professional doula certification through Birthing From Within in 2011. With a BA in Communications from University of Missouri, Christine uses her communication skills daily to connect with parents, teaching them how to communicate effectively with their birth team, and perhaps most importantly, teach clients and their partners how to communicate with and support each other during pregnancy and labor. In addition, Christine co-founded the VBAC Advocates of Lee County in 2013 and proudly served as a Co-leader for the SW Florida Birth Network in 2014-2015. When she's not teaching or at a birth, you'll find her enjoying life with her husband and three children (16, 13 and 7), one born at a birth center and the other two born right at home.
